So the idea with Hoochie Mama’s was to create something a little edgy on the edge of Walthamstow, with a touch of Irish and a touch of Aussie to boot.
What could go wrong? Well, are Walthamstow and E17 ready for this for starters…..
The coffee is great, that’s for sure. It’s a single origin from Burundi which the owners, Myles (the Irish guy) and Chris (the Aussie), discovered from The Roasting Shed in Hackney Wick. So it’s East London through and through.
The music’s always laidback and cool (and just today, worryingly, like a soundtrack to my life – seeing as it’s Spotify’s Van Morrison Radio)

Besides coffee, everything’s local from fresh juices to the cold brew. Plus coffee fudge. Also, from the looks of their Facebook page, they also serve pastries and cakes – but unfortunately there were none to hand when I was in there, so had to settle for just a decent coffee instead.
But for me it’s the setting, on a corner of Hoe Street and Tower Hamlets Road where you can sit out and watch the world go by with a great coffee.

Above all, Myles is a helluva cool chatty guy who really knows how to make coffee with heart at its centre of its brew.
There’s not a lot more I would want from a cool coffee shop. So what’s not to like?
Get yourself down there Walthamstow!!
